Archie Miles- Heritage Trees of Wales

This illustrated talk is derived from  “Heritage Trees Wales” book first published in 2012 by Graffeg.  After completing heritage tree books for Great Britain (included several Welsh trees) and a dedicated book for Scotland Archie felt strongly that Wales deserved its own dedicated volume.

He scoured the Principality in search of trees that deserved the epithet ‘heritage’, whether they were ancient, record breakers, culturally or historically significant, weird, wonderful or just obscure. He also draws from his extensive historical tree image archive with tales of lost great trees. HTW is a very personal collection, but  many of these trees  reveal stories that will resonate, fascinate and maybe even surprise you.

Archie Miles has been a professional photographer for almost fifty years, and began writing almost thirty years ago. With an abiding passion for the British landscape, a natural progression over these last thirty years has seen him carve a specialist niche in the world of trees. He has written and photographed nine books on the subject and contributed images to many more books and publications.

Archie has worked with several of the major tree-related organisations, including The Woodland Trust, Tree Council & Forestry Commission. His comprehensive picture library contains over 50,000 tree photographs and related historical archive material. He regularly presents illustrated talks for a variety of clients, and has occasionally worked on radio and television. He lives in rural Herefordshire with his partner Jan, Scotties “Dotty” and “Jessie” and “Eric” the cat.

The earlybird price of £8.00 will continue until the 31 st March, it will then increase to £10.00, unless you live within 10 miles of Llandovery in which case it will remain at £8.00, you can buy the reduced tickets at the shop..

You will be able to collect or buy your very special tickets, an artwork in themselves, from the bookshop, if you buy your tickets online make sure you click local collection or you will be charged for postage, you may want to print off a copy of your order.
