One of my favourite books published this year, it’s just beautiful.
“One day, while clearing the garden after a storm. I found a chaffinch nest- it was a strange, sodden lump lying on the grass under a fir tree, and I wasn’t even sure what it was. I brought it inside, placed it on a newspaper and over the next few hours, as the weight of the water drained out of it, the sodden lupm blossomed into a jewel-like nest. It was clearly very new and unfinished, as the lining of feathers was sparse and the moss was fresh.I was enthralled and dropped everything to paint it”
